An Afternoon Tea for a Bride-to-be.

A sunny, southern California afternoon and more tea sandwiches than anyone could have possibly handled made for an absolutely beautiful tea party to celebrate the upcoming nuptials for one of the most stunning brides! Custom tea flavored cocktails were crafted from The Owl's Brew and drank out of vintage teacups, while there were sweet, girly details to be enjoyed at every turn. It was such a pleasure to cater such a lovely event and I wish the absolute best for the happy couple!

Congratulations Jackie & Jason!

A Bridal Shower for Rebecca Grace!

Showers are my favorite thing to cater. Bridal showers, baby showers.... if I could take a slice of pizza into the regular old "wash your body" shower, I totally would. I just love them! So, what better thing than to get to cater a beautiful bridal shower for one of my very best friends!

Rebecca's shower was lingerie themed, with the sweetest details and the yummiest food! I did everything bite sized (as I like to do) with an emphasis on seasonal and vegetarian!

It was the perfect day for the most lovely of brides!

Cheers to my beautiful friend!!!!

Love, Marriage, & Catering!

Is there anything better than a wedding?

Nope.

Ok... a few things may be tied in awesomeness (like dogs, and wine, and lilacs, and pizza...) But really, there is nothing better than a gathering of loved ones to celebrate love, drink champagne, dance, and eat delicious food!

Delicious food. That's where I come in...

Here are a few photos from a beautiful wedding that I catered a few weeks ago! I did a gorgeous, rustic spread of appetizers and small bites for an intimate wedding in Los Angeles. And, while it may have rained on the stunning brides wedding day, the ceremony had me weak in the knees. Swoon.

Congratulations Rachael and Nathan!

Caudalie Boutique Opening Event.

The past two nights I catered two beautiful events for the opening of the new Caudalie Boutique on Abbot Kinney in Venice. Caudalie is an amazing anti aging and skin care line that focuses on the use of grapes in their products. So, along with providing them with delicious small bites for their event, I also got the opportunity to create some fun, grape based, recipes. This star studded event was wonderful and I was thrilled to be a part of it!

I snagged this great photo from Getty Images, but there are many more to come...

I know you have probably missed me and my recipes a whole, WHOLE lot, but I have been a very busy bee lately!! More photos, recipes, and your favorite ginger... coming soon! (Promise.)

Ginger in the Kitchen Featured on RACKED LA

Boots and fall sweaters
And Pretty wool dresses
Slowly braised meats
And warm roasted beats
There are a few of my favorite treats!
Lalalalalala I catered this week!

If you were sitting next to my sniffly self on the couch right now (where I have been planted for a solid 48 hours now... damn you, awful cold!) you would hear me humming the above to the tune of "These are a few of my favorite things." You know, the song in The Sound of Music? It's the best. (The Nazi's were my least "favorite thing" in that movie.) Any who, you wouldn't actually be able to hear that song because tunes are not something that I am skilled enough to carry, but you get the idea.

Fall is the best. Fall clothes and fall foods, alike. And I was lucky enough to get to be a part of both on Wednesday evening. I had the pleasure of catering the ultra chic Autumn Soiree at Beckley's Boutique on 3rd street (with none of the foods I mentioned in my song because hey, rhyming his hard!) It was full of inspiring fall fashion and delicious seasonal bites from your very favorite ginger. It was a lovely night and I even got featured on RackedLA.

Carolina Style BBQ Pulled Chicken

Oh, hi.
Remember me?
Ya... I have a blog.

You may remember me from the past few posts about my daily juicing "habit," buttttt, well.... I caught a cold and now the last thing that I want to drink is juice, so we are going to take a short break from that whole idea. I'm certainly not the best at committing to these grande plans that I come up with, but I am really good at my marriage and that is a huge commitment, so that's gotta give me some points, right? It kind of evens out? Look, I juiced some really good juices... and now I am ready to move on. Maybe I will come back to it, maybe I won't. I am on the no plan juice plan and were gonna play that plan by ear.

On a more positive, solid food note.... I catered a party a couple of weekends ago and pretended that I was a southern belle again. You know, the whole she-bang. Biscuits, pimento cheese, slaw, mac n cheese.... I did it up real southern and real delicious.

I really just love southern food. SO much. It's comforting, it's satisfying, and it's gosh darn delicious. (Ya, I said "gosh darn." It was cute, right?) You should give it a try... Southern food that is. It will make you happy and it will make you full which are the very best things to be.

a little southern birthday catering by yours truly.

Ingredients:
5 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs (they don't have to be boneless and skinless, but it makes everything easier because you don't have to pick out the skin and bones. That all sounds very barbaric, but it is true.)
2 onions, quartered
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Special equipment:
Slow cooker

carolina style BBQ pulled chicken

Method:
Place onions in slow cooker.
Blend brown sugar, paprika, salt and pepper; rub over chicken things.
Place chicken in a slow cooker and drizzle the liquid smoke over it. If you haven't used liquid smoke before, you are in for a treat. It is awesome.
Combine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and garlic, stir to mix well and then pour into slow cooker.
Cook the chicken on low for about 8 hours until it is falling apart and your house smells like heaven.
Remove meat and onions, discard onions and shred meat. Add juices from slow cooker to the shredded chicken so that it is super moist. I know that word is gross to many of you, but it is the only appropriate word. I am sorry.
Now, here's the really great thing... this chicken is freaking delicious by itself, or you can pile it on a bun, top it with some slaw, and eat it as the most delicious pulled chicken sandwich ever.

Enjoy!
